Shrines are an alternative way to grind in the nether, besides the Dreadfort.
There are three types of shrines, which are Blazes, Ghasts, and Magma Cubes. Shrines are indicated with a zone title, boss bar with the type of shrine, and Nether Wardens. Everytime you clear a wave in a shrine, a loot bundle will spawn randomly in a 10 block radius containing the drops of that wave. After a shrine has been purged, a loot bundle spawns inside the shrine. It takes 30 minutes for a shrine to come back.
Shrines are scattered around the Nether area with there being about 4 of each type of shrine.
All items acquired from shrines take up the Unstable Item tag, which means until you go to spawn to remove the tag, the items will have the tag. Make sure to not die with these unstable items on you as if you die they will drop!
