Voltarnia was a town in the Deadlands located at tile 62. It was created on the idea that the Deadlands could be landscaped with forests, rivers, and more. It was also heavily focussed on redstone machines.

History[]

Voltarnia was founded on the 1st of May, 2019 and quickly aimed to conquer the surrounding Deadland tiles. Originally the land surrounding it was barren, with few remnants of previous towns, including the nearby town of Black Raven in tile 63. It started as a small, wooden hut as a place to begin building.

Beginnings and context[]

Voltarnia aimed to preserve history and learn of past towns, whilst transforming the Deadlands into a green environment. The wooden hut was expanded and eventually formed a large wooden box which almost reached world height. The front entrance was fashioned with a small redstone gate, of which the owner, SamB440, had previously built for the towns of Arvik and Alakazam, the latter of which is the largest and can still be found today, and another was also built later for Terra Incognita prior to the founding of Voltarnia.

The main portion of the base was underground in a redstone bunker, with traps, complex corridors, and a large storage. This was designed to keep enemies out, as Voltarnia was frequently subject to attacks. However, the large wooden walls surrounding an inner portion of the tile were designed to keep enemies in to discourage them from attacking.

The banner of Voltarnia is based off the banner of Black Raven, found in the church tower.

Naming[]

The first part of the Voltarnia name "volt" represents fire and violence, supposed to mirror that of the Deadlands.

Deadlands project[]

Work began within the walls to transform the Deadlands and at first a farm was created to primarily produce pumpkins as a source of income. This lead to several trade deals to gather the neccessary materials, such as grass blocks and stone.

The upper layer of the Deadland's soil began to be stripped and replaced with grass. This was then bonemealed with some trees added. Some of the dead trees that were originally there were kept, others were chopped down for the purpose of building material. After this was done, rivers, lakes and crops were added along with fish imported from other waters. A large aqeuduct was built over several weeks as a testament that the Deadlands would be conquered. It served both a defensive and a utility purpose - used as a wall and to deliver water to crops.

Roads around the Deadlands were slowly rebuilt, and reconnected to the town of Black Raven.

Library History Project[]

Voltarnia prided itself on preserving history and built a secret library filled with important books from anywhere they could be gathered, such as from Black Raven. This was located deep in the large storage and also housed special event items.

Garama Hyperrail Project[]

Following the discovery of an old, disused hyperrail during a raid of a fallen town in the northern Savannah at tile 97, Voltarnia explored this and found it linked up the entirety of the continent. Work was promptly made to reconnect it, with trade being done to gather packed ice from its ally Terra Incognita in Kalros. Tile 97 was linked to the hyperrail in tile 105.

Voltarnia then connected its own hyperrail to the network, then continued to repair the remainder of the hyperrail over time. It was favoured over other transport as it was faster and safer, due to the relative secrecy of it being used or existing. Eventually Voltarnia's own network included a fully working station with a redstone gate to automate who could enter and leave.

Death[]

By the time of its death, Voltarnia was a relatively rich town. The vast storage housed many items and it had one of the most efficient autobrewers on Loka. Important items had already been distributed into the inventories of allies and its members prior to its death.

Voltarnia fell due to inactivity of its members. Many banners and items were recovered, with the main storage only being discovered later and the majority of it was preserved before being later settled on by the towns of Sylvis.

Nothing remains of Voltarnia and Black Raven or the dead lands in general. Sylvis first blew up the remaining town ruins and then began work on a large pit from surface to bedrock, removing any traces of history.

Other[]

Nerdiebirdie was once tracked down by the owners after he had finished a stream and they created a maze game. You can see the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6JMFFdKHIc [1]

Lore[]

Conquest[]

Voltarnia did not ally with anyone on the continent of the Garama, however had support from the Kalros town of Terra Incognita. This was partly because it only had minimal active members and chose not to recruit others into the town. It was subject to frequent attacks, however was largely successful in controlling the Deadlands and sometimes claiming parts of the mesa adjacent. In order to fight these battles, an efficient autobrewer was built by PyroPyxel and SamB440.

It most frequently battled with the nearby mesa town of Salem, however only lost one out of the five battles that took place[2]. Larger battles with New Fruitopia also took place in the mesa.
